Background
Sleep is a key pillar of health and performance
Unfortunately insomnia is rife, and existing sleep aids are often ineffective.
Our study tests a new treatment that retrains people's brainwaves so they can switch off more easily at bedtime, then achieve deeper, more stable sleep
We hope this will both make sleep more refreshing and improve daytime productivity and well-being
Protocol
Participation involves 10 days of at-home neurofeedback training using a Muse EEG headband, with cognitive testing sessions in the Lincoln Sleep lab before and after this.
The video shows a neurofeedback trial that teaches you to reduce brain arousal levels, to help with 'switching off' at night. Other trials teach you to produce more of the brainwaves that support deep, good quality sleep.
